The technology of the Enterprise Campus Aggregation explained

Aggregation instead of end device supply

This is where connections from access switches, servers and gateways come together. The SFP28 ports support 25G/10G, the QSFP28 ports 100G/40G. PoE end devices are connected to suitable access switches.

MC-LAG as a pair

Two matching devices can jointly provide redundant link aggregation. Remote stations and connection plan must match. Four aggregation switches are not combined into a single quad MC-LAG network.

Replaceable power supplies and fans

Redundant components support maintenance and reliability. The benefit also depends on separate current paths, suitable optics and correctly planned uplinks.

Exemplary planning · not a customer project

Central connection between several floors

Access stacks are connected to an aggregation pair via fast uplinks. Server and gateway receive coordinated connections. Two levels of aggregation use two pairs with a documented connection concept.

The specific equipment is checked on site based on the requirements.

When does a different model make sense?

The ECS-48S-PoE supplies end devices via RJ45 and PoE. The aggregation switch focuses on fast connections between network components.

Questions about the Enterprise Campus Aggregation

Is MC-LAG the same as stacking?

No. MC-LAG enables shared link aggregation across two devices. Stacking combines suitable switches into a stack via dedicated connections; Port and operating concepts differ.
