The technology of the Dream Machine Beast explained

IDS/IPS clearly explained

IDS detects suspicious traffic patterns; IPS can block matching connections. The manufacturer mentions up to 25 Gbit/s for this model. This information is not a guaranteed speed for every configuration and does not replace proper firewall rules.

Application platform and two HDD bays

In addition to UniFi Network, the device supports other UniFi applications. Two HDD bays and an integrated 128-GB SSD are part of the platform. Actual utilization needs to be planned across network, recording, and other services.

Separate networks and permissions

A VLAN logically separates devices, such as guests and workstations. The rules determine which communication is permitted between the networks. A separately named WLAN alone is not a complete security concept.

Exemplary planning · not a customer project

Headquarters of a company

Many end devices and several UniFi applications are managed at the main site. The throughput requirement is evaluated with the protection functions switched on. Camera recording and storage are priced separately so that gateway performance is not the only basis for purchase.

The specific equipment is checked on site based on the requirements.

When does a different model make sense?

The EFG focuses on enterprise network and firewall and offers replaceable power supplies. Despite the lower IDS/IPS number, it may be the more suitable choice depending on the operating concept.

Questions about the Dream Machine Beast

Is the UDM Beast necessary for every large company?

No. It is an option for high requirements. Smaller models are often sufficient; What matters is actual data traffic, applications, interfaces and availability.

Does Irontec support planning and setup in Switzerland?

We clarify the deployment, select the additional infrastructure and agree on setup, documentation and ongoing support. Hardware and services are clearly listed in the offer.

Plan and operate appropriately

Network management, firewall and other UniFi applications run on one platform. Cameras, data carriers, switches and access points are appropriately supplemented.

Internet speed, VPN connections, activated IDS/IPS features and additional applications are dimensioned together. A single gateway is not a fully redundant solution. Optional CyberSecure subscriptions are not included in the hardware price.
