Multiple drives allow for appropriate storage and redundancy configurations. However, drive redundancy is not a complete backup against deletion, theft or failure of the entire device. Data carriers are provided separately.
A VLAN logically separates devices, such as guests and workstations. The rules determine which communication is permitted between the networks. A separately named WLAN alone is not a complete security concept.
A central rack location operates WiFi, network and video surveillance. The additional throughput offers reserves over smaller UDM models. For higher availability, a second identical gateway with separately planned connections is being tested.
The specific equipment is checked on site based on the requirements.
According to the manufacturer, the UDM Beast offers up to 25 Gbit/s IDS/IPS. Whether this performance is required depends on Internet access, internal traffic and the applications.

Network management, firewall and other UniFi applications run on one platform. Cameras, data carriers, switches and access points are appropriately supplemented.
Internet speed, VPN connections, activated IDS/IPS features and additional applications are dimensioned together. A single gateway is not a fully redundant solution. Optional CyberSecure subscriptions are not included in the hardware price.
