Lite 8 PoE
Connect a few devices and PoE consumers via gigabit. The number of ports and the shared power budget limit the expansion.
Ubiquiti UniFi switches for Swiss SMEs and campuses: PoE, multi-gigabit, fiber optic uplinks, VLANs, aggregation and stacking, clearly planned and supported.
A switch connects workstations, servers, access points and cameras to the rest of the network. In order for the connection to be suitable in everyday life, in addition to the number of ports, speed, PoE performance and uplinks also count. Irontec plans UniFi switching for small offices to multi-tier campus networks. We explain the differences between access switches, aggregation and WAN switches and coordinate hardware, cabling and operations for your location.
Choose the building blocks that suit your initial situation. We determine the scope and support together.
Record workstations, access points and cameras in a port list. Consider reserves for new devices and the required data rate.
PoE supplies suitable end devices via the network cable. We check the required standard and the common budget of all occupied ports.
Connect floors, servers and distributors with suitable uplinks. Port types, optics, cable length and remote stations must match.
Assign network areas for company devices, guests and cameras. Releases between areas are coordinated with routing and firewall.
Select the supported redundancy functions specifically. A stack of individual switches in a rack is not a logically managed switch stack.
Document port assignment and connections. Malfunctions, extensions and updates can be processed and tracked in a targeted manner.
From the compact PoE switch to stacked access switches and redundant aggregation.

Small businesses
Connect a few devices and PoE consumers via gigabit. The number of ports and the shared power budget limit the expansion.

Medium-sized companies
Combine Gigabit and 2.5 GbE devices, with fast SFP+ uplinks to the rest of the network. Plan PoE reserve for access points and cameras.

Large companies & campuses
ECS-48S-PoE as access level, ECS Aggregation as higher connection level. Maximum of four ECS-S switches per stack; Plan redundant connections separately.

Wi-Fi coverage and performance depend on building, device and configuration. EU devices may require a suitable Swiss connection cable. Optional accessories, data carriers and additional paid services are only included if expressly stated.
Example situations – we tailor the specific implementation to your requirements.
A compact UniFi switch connects workstations and selected devices. We check whether the gigabit connection and power budget match the actual needs.
Fast access points and cameras require different ports and power reserves. We create an occupancy plan and coordinate uplinks with the next network level.
Access switches are connected via planned aggregation. Suitable stacks, replacement paths and separate power supplies are set up and tested together.
Eight free sockets are of little help if the type of device required requires a faster connection or a different PoE standard. We differentiate between wired workstations, access points, cameras and servers. Example: In the office, gigabit ports may be sufficient for individual devices, while fast access points require suitable 2.5 or 10 GbE ports. In addition, uplinks and reserves for expansions are planned.
PoE delivers data and power via one cable. Two pieces of information are crucial: the supported performance on the individual port and the total available PoE budget. Planning example: Four consumers with 25 W each result in a total of 100 W before additional reserve. A switch with a total budget of 52 W is not enough for this, even if all devices can be physically connected. We examine the performance requirements of each device type and the intended power supply operation.
An uplink connects a switch to the next network level. If many fast connections share a slow uplink, a bottleneck can arise there. SFP-based connectors require appropriate modules or direct connection cables; Form factor, speed and remote device must be compatible. We plan building connections and server connections based on the required range and expected data traffic.
Access switches provide the connections for end devices. Aggregation bundles connections from multiple distributors or floors. A WAN switch has its own role at the Internet gateway, for example to pass on a provider connection to a gateway pair. These devices are not interchangeable sizes of the same product. The comparison shows their respective uses, and the network overview combines them into complete equipment suggestions.
LACP combines compatible connections into one logical connection; This does not automatically make a single data stream faster by the number of cables. For supported ECS-S switches, stacking connects multiple devices into a jointly managed unit. ECS Aggregation can provide redundant connections as a MC-LAG pair. We select the function according to remote stations and failure requirements. Current campus planning uses three stacks of four for twelve access switches.
Two power supplies only help in the intended operating mode and with a suitable power supply. For the ECS-48S-PoE, Ubiquiti states a PoE budget of 950 W for 200-240 V in redundant operation; Operating both power supplies together has a different budget. We plan reserves based on the desired failure event. Acceptance includes separate tests for switch, uplink and current path – with the agreed expectations in each case.
We record the required ports, data rates and PoE devices. This forms the basis for a port plan, uplink design and equipment selection. VLAN assignments, links between distribution points and planned backup paths are documented. Redundancy is checked for the specific combination.
You receive an agreed scope covering hardware, setup and optional support. Product pages show indicative CHF prices; the final quotation takes your site into account.

The Lite 8 PoE can fit few Gigabit and PoE devices. If faster ports or more PoE performance are required, other equipment may be considered. The decisive factors are the connected devices and the planned reserve.
The ECS-S planning provided here uses a maximum of four devices per stack. Twelve access switches are therefore planned as three stacks of four. The model, software version and cabling must support the required functions.
No. Shared management in UniFi Network does not automatically mean stacking. The stack functions described refer to suitable ECS-S devices. Pro Max switches in our office examples are managed individually.
A VLAN initially separates logical network areas. The routing, firewall and, if necessary, access control rules determine which communication is permitted between them. We plan and test these rules together.
The CHF guide prices shown refer to the hardware described. Required optics, cabling, accessories, installation and support will be shown separately in your offer unless expressly included. The exact price is available upon request.
