What it's about

UniFi WLAN & WiFi 7.
With an eye on your everyday life.

The video conference is stalling in the meeting room, while everything is working fine at work? A WLAN must provide capacity where people and devices need it. Irontec plant UniFi WLAN anhand von Grundriss, Baumaterialien und Nutzung. We compare U7 Pro, U7 Pro Max, U7 Pro XGS and E7, check the wired connection and test the agreed workflows. Our focus is on Ubiquiti UniFi solutions for companies in Zurich and Switzerland.

Choose the building blocks that suit your initial situation. We determine the scope and support together.

UniFi radio planning

Record floor plans, assembly locations and existing radio networks. On this basis, we plan coverage and check the supply in the company.

UniFi WiFi 7 Access Points

Compare U7 Pro, U7 Pro Max, U7 Pro XGS and E7 according to wireless environment, LAN connection and usage. The model table makes the differences visible.

UniFi Guest WiFi

Visitors receive designated internet access. WLAN mapping, VLANs and firewall rules are configured and tested together.

UniFi roaming

Check the change between access points with the notebooks, telephones and mobile devices used. Settings are tailored to their abilities.

UniFi PoE & LAN connection

Port speed and power supply must match the access point. The detailed switch selection can be found on our switching page.

UniFi WiFi support

Investigate connection quality and recurring problems. We document changes, updates and extensions for further operation.

The choice of model is not a fixed limit based on company size. Even small offices may need 10 GbE; a campus can combine different access points. Wireless data streams are not a guaranteed speed per device. All CHF amounts are indicative prices. Exact price on request. The course and price level are in the following comparison.

For the campus variant, we add redundant network and current paths. With the E7, the reserve connection remains limited to 1 Gbit/s; Appropriately planned radio overlap helps prevent the failure of an access point. For the overall Enterprise variant with parts list →

Wi-Fi coverage and performance depend on building, device and configuration. EU devices may require a suitable Swiss connection cable. Optional accessories, data carriers and additional paid services are only included if expressly stated.

This is how the solution can help

Thought from your everyday life.

Example situations – we tailor the specific implementation to your requirements.

01

Office with meeting room

Several people are having video conferences at the same time. We plan radio capacity for the meeting room and check the connection to typical end devices.

02

Several floors with mobile employees

Notebooks and phones move between workspaces. The acceptance includes transitions between access points and the intended guest access.

03

Campus with operationally critical areas

Different buildings receive coordinated radio cells and cable connections. For critical zones, we examine additional data and power paths as well as overlapping coverage.

Good to understand

Coverage and capacity: two different questions

Coverage describes where a usable radio signal arrives. Capacity describes how well the simultaneously active devices can work. A single access point can reach a room and still have its limits in a crowded training session. Example: A meeting room with many video conferences is planned differently than a hallway with a few mobile devices. We record both requirements and select assembly locations and models accordingly.

WiFi 7 and 6 GHz clearly arranged

WiFi 7 refers to the WLAN generation. Which radio bands, data streams and connections a device offers depends on the model. U7 Pro, U7 Pro Max, U7 Pro XGS and E7 support 6 GHz; The compact U7 Lite also belongs to WiFi 7, but does not offer this band. The capabilities of your end devices are also crucial for the benefit. We therefore check the equipment inventory and application before we recommend equipment.

Roaming when there is movement in the building

When switching between access points, the end device also takes part. Higher transmission power alone does not solve roaming problems. We tune radio cells and, for example, test a Teams call on the way from the workplace to the meeting room. Features such as fast roaming are checked with the devices used before they are broadly activated. An adapted configuration may make sense for sensitive or older devices.

Cleanly separate guest WiFi and the company network

A separate WLAN name is not yet complete access separation. Guest access is assigned to a suitable network area; Rules determine which goals are achievable. Example: Visitors should be able to access the Internet, but neither the file storage nor the Protect cameras. We check this process from the perspective of a guest device and document the intended exceptions.

Why an access point needs the right switch

The radio connection ends at the access point and the data then travels via the cable network. The U7 Pro XGS provides a 10-GbE connector and requires PoE++. An unsuitable port can limit the data connection or not provide the required power supply. We therefore look at the access point, switch port, uplink and cabling together. However, a fast LAN connection does not replace a suitable Internet connection.

WiFi from the small office to the campus

In a small office, the focus is on a few well-placed access points and simple operation. If there are multiple floors, we plan channel use and transitions. On a campus, building connections and availability requirements come into play. The E7 offers a 1-GbE reserve connection in addition to 10 GbEs. A second cable does not protect against every error: If the access point is defective, radio overlap or replacement is necessary. The complete campus parts list can be found on the network overview.

Your UniFi project with Irontec

What does a UniFi WiFi installation include?

A planned UniFi WiFi installation includes a site assessment, suitable access points and mounting positions, PoE and cabling, and configuration of the intended networks. Acceptance testing covers agreed applications and areas. Adding a device alone does not replace this planning.

Good to know

Your questions. Clear answers.

Which UniFi Access Point is right for my company?

We choose based on radio environment, usage and connection. U7 Pro is a possible office entry with 6 GHz; U7 Pro Max and U7 Pro XGS have different priorities in terms of capacity and connection. E7 adds a reserve connection. The comparison shows the concrete differences.

How many access points do I need?

The number cannot be reliably derived from square meters or employees alone. Walls, floors, assembly locations, simultaneous use and devices come into play. Floor plans and an on-site inspection form the basis.

Are the advertised WiFi speeds guaranteed?

No. Radio data are theoretical manufacturer values. Usable speed depends, among other things, on the device, distance, interference, channel usage and cable connection. We check the applications you need.

Can I continue to use existing switches?

This is often possible. In particular, we check port speed, PoE standard and shared power budget. The inventory analysis shows which combination makes sense.

Is a WiFi mesh the same solution as a cable connection?

With a wireless uplink, the access point also uses radio to connect to the network. For planned office installations, we first check a suitable cable connection. Whether a wireless replacement route makes sense depends on the location.
